All about Volleyball

Volleyball is considered one of the easiest to understand and most enjoyable sports to watch and play. It is played all around the world and is most popular with school and college players. Volleyball has become popular because it delivers great exercise and entertainment. It is also not dangerous to play and its rules are very simple. The sport can either be played outdoors or indoors in a court that measures 18 meters long and 9 meters wide.



In the central part of the court there is a net, 2.50 meters high, and on each side of it are 6 players, so there are 12 players in total on a court at any one time.

VOLLEYBALL

It is a sport played by two teams in a court divided by a net. There are different rules for specific circumstances, such as a lower net for younger kids who play at lower levels.

DESCRIPTION OF THE GAME

Volleyball is played on a rectangular court of 18 m, by 9m wide, divided into two equal parts by a net of 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women.


Basic Volleyball Rules

The player serving tosses the ball in the air and hit it over the net to the opposite side, and the game is now started. The ball must not touch the ground and only hands can be used.



Rebounding is also not allowed. If this occurs, the offending side loses a point and must deliver the ball to the opposite side who will then serve.

POSITION TIps

The player must keep legs shoulder width apart, one foot ahead relative to the other, knees bent, hands at shoulder height and eyes on the ball.


MOVEMENTS

•    Forward: The player must take steps forward to locate the ball.
•    Side: The movement of a leg with arm movements there.
•    Cross: A player must bring the leg that is further to where it will move.
•    Back: Starting from the initial position the player moves back with the leg that is advanced.
